Summary

Researchers have discovered that the redox conditions during the formation of rocks in the Priiskovy Massif, part of the Central Sikhote-Alin UNESCO World Heritage Site, significantly influence metallogenic processes. Using U-Pb dating on zircons via SHRIMP-II, they established a Cenomanian age (96.91 ± 0.88 and 96.5 ± 1.2 Ma) for amphibole granodiorites of both magnetite and ilmenite series. The study found that rocks formed under reducing conditions (ilmenite series) are associated with tin ore deposits, while those formed under oxidizing conditions (magnetite series) correlate with gold deposits and polymetallic mineralization. This spatial distribution explains the localization of ore deposits within the Sikhote-Alin Orogenic Belt.
