Summary

A strong correlation exists between timing irregularities and the surface magnetic field of rotation-powered pulsars, with pulsars exhibiting significant timing noise also showing up to five orders of magnitude higher magnetic fields. This finding emerges from an analysis of a large, homogeneous sample of pulsars observed at Jodrell Bank Observatory (JBO), combining data from the ATNF catalogue. Regression analysis revealed statistically significant correlations (r ≥ 0.80) between these parameters, suggesting a fundamental relationship that could deepen our understanding of pulsar behavior and magnetic field dynamics.
