Summary

Climate-Smart Agriculture (CSA) offers a promising adaptation strategy for paddy rice farmers in Luang Prabang, Laos, to mitigate the impacts of climate change such as drought and pests. A case study in Thongphiengvilay village revealed that CSA could effectively complement or build upon existing Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), providing sustainable alternatives to synthetic fertilizers without compromising rice yields. This approach not only addresses immediate agricultural challenges but also ensures long-term environmental sustainability, making it a viable solution for both commercial and subsistence farming in the region.
