Summary

Kaziranga National Park, the sole habitat of the critically endangered Indian one-horned rhinoceros in India, faces significant threats to its population growth due to poaching, habitat destruction, and environmental challenges like floods and droughts. Annual rhino mortality rates range from 15-20 individuals, jeopardizing both biodiversity conservation and tourism sustainability. The study proposes the integration of sensor network technology as a novel solution to enhance rhino protection by monitoring location and survival status in real-time. This approach aims to mitigate human-wildlife conflicts, improve anti-poaching efforts, and ensure habitat preservation, thereby supporting long-term rhino conservation and sustaining Kaziranga's ecological and cultural significance.
