Summary

Despite ongoing conflict and structural differences between Traditional Aboriginal Owners and White rangers, Kakadu National Park's joint management system remains functional. This resilience is attributed to a balancing act of opposing forces, with the most significant being 'common discourse'—an underrecognized form of communication that arises from shared fieldwork. This discourse counteracts the divisive narratives of each group, fostering cohesion and enabling effective collaboration.
