Summary
Tourists at Kulangsu, a traffic-free historic international settlement, prioritize cleanliness and crowding levels when evaluating walking environmental quality. These factors, previously overlooked in literature, emerged as critical areas needing improvement to enhance satisfaction. The study used an ordered probit model on pooled cross-sectional data from surveys conducted in 2017–2018, revealing that addressing these attributes could significantly boost tourist experience. This research provides actionable insights for policymakers aiming to optimize walking systems in similar traffic-free destinations.
