Summary

A recent survey of the Hyrcanian forest region, particularly focusing on epiphyte vegetation in the Elburz Mountains near Nowshahr, Iran, has identified 18 moss species previously unrecorded in the country. These discoveries include significant range extensions and gap-filling distributions for several species, such as Lescuraea saviana, Rhynchostegium rotundifolium, and Schwetschkeopsis fabronia. Additionally, the study confirms the presence of two Plagiothecium species in Iran. This research contributes valuable data to the understanding of moss biodiversity in the Hyrcanian forests by expanding the known flora and addressing distribution gaps.
