Summary
Excavations at Göbekli Tepe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the oldest known human-made religious sites, have revealed new insights into its construction phases. Research conducted between 2010 and 2012 in Structures C and E uncovered the bedrock foundation exposed in 2008 and explored areas between outer ring walls to assess the feasibility of a protective roof. These findings enabled a more detailed differentiation of the site's stratigraphy, particularly Layer III, providing crucial evidence for understanding its architectural evolution. The study employed rigorous archaeological methods to analyze structural layers, offering deeper context for Göbekli Tepe's significance as a precursor to Neolithic temple complexes.
