Summary

Tourism in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR, significantly enhances entrepreneurs' socio-economic conditions by driving skill development and income growth. A survey of 100 tourism-related entrepreneurs revealed that while most experienced positive impacts—such as improved business management and personal development—a subset also faced challenges without altering their traditional lifestyles. Despite these mixed effects, entrepreneurs overwhelmingly supported tourism’s role in boosting local economic growth and residents' incomes, even while seeking to preserve cultural heritage. The study highlights tourism's dual role: fostering socio-economic progress while sustaining traditional societal values.
