Summary

Research on the Putorana Plateau reveals that while climatic conditions have improved, adult Dahurian larch trees at higher altitudes show no increase in radial growth over recent decades. The study found that older trees exhibit greater sensitivity to climate factors, whereas young trees experience more significant intraspecific competition than climatic influence. Young trees at higher elevations and on eastern-facing slopes display larger morphometric characteristics and ring widths compared to those in denser, lower-slope stands. This suggests that competition dynamics play a crucial role in tree growth at the upper altitude limit of this Subarctic region.
