Summary

A comprehensive update of the ichthyofauna of the Revillagigedo Archipelago reveals 366 fish species across four islands, highlighting significant biogeographic and taxonomic diversity. Socorro Island exhibits the highest species richness (220), followed by Clarion (179), San Benedicto (128), and Roca Partida (62). The study identifies Carangidae, Serranidae, and Muraenidae as the most species-rich families, while endemic species account for 7.1% of the total. Biogeographic analysis shows strong affinities with the Panamic province (42.3%) and Cortes (41.5%), with a notable proportion of circumglobal (21%) and amphipacific (22.4%) species. The findings underscore the archipelago's unique ichthyofaunal composition, influenced by island surface area and geographic proximity.
