A rapid transformation in accommodation services has occurred around Warsaw's Old Town Market Square, driven by the rise of the sharing economy. Research conducted in 2016 revealed that within a 1 km radius, 225 establishments offering approximately 1,500 beds had emerged, with Airbnb listings comprising a significant portion. Despite the area being designated as Warsaw's sole tourist precinct, traditional lodging options were historically scarce. The study found no clear correlation between distance from the market square and the number of rental apartments, though this may reflect the limited research scope. Notably, the most expensive accommodations are located closest to the historic center, highlighting the economic value of proximity in this UNESCO-listed site.
