Summary

Tourism development in Indonesia's remote Komodo National Park, particularly on Rinca and Komodo Islands, has significantly transformed local socio-economic landscapes. This qualitative study reveals that while tourism brings economic benefits—such as increased income from homestays, guide services, and small businesses—it also introduces challenges like seasonal employment instability and cultural shifts. The research highlights the need for sustainable tourism models to balance economic gains with long-term community well-being and environmental conservation. By focusing on local perceptions and livelihood changes, the study provides actionable insights for policymakers and stakeholders aiming to optimize tourism's positive impacts while mitigating negative consequences.
