Summary

Research on Athenian moldmade bowls from Delos reveals a previously unknown step in the production process and evidence for the export of molds, suggesting that 'Attic' bowls were produced beyond Athens. Analyzing Laumonier's sample of 2,000+ Hellenistic hemispherical relief bowls, the study identifies all major decorative types, with long-petal bowls being most common. The imagery aligns closely with Athenian bowls, but new stamps and workshop attributions are documented. While some bowls arrived on Delos before 167 BCE, the majority were imported later, possibly impacting Athenian industry development.
