Summary

Cultural heritage, both tangible and intangible, serves as a powerful connector for settlements along the Danube River, fostering regional unity and tourism. This study demonstrates that shared historic and cultural backgrounds are not essential to create strong connections among diverse communities. By enhancing the visibility of cultural heritage and developing comprehensive spatial and cultural networks, settlements can achieve tourist attractiveness and distinctiveness, benefiting both local areas and the broader region. The research employs a case study approach, focusing on Srebarna Nature Reserve, to explore how recognition and preservation of cultural heritage can generate unique frameworks for connection.
