Summary

Researchers have identified a new species of tapeworm, Oochoristica noronhae, parasitic to the lizard Trachylepis atlantica on Fernando de Noronha Island, Brazil. This discovery, published in Zootaxa, represents the 88th species in the genus and the 14th from the Neotropical region. The new species is distinguished by its circular suckers and fewer than 30 testes per proglottid, with ovarian lobes containing 8–10 lobules. Additionally, the study documented other endoparasites, including two nematode species, a pentastomid, and an acanthocephalan cystacanth, highlighting the rich parasitic biodiversity associated with this lizard on the island.
