Summary

Excavations near the southwestern corner of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem's Old City revealed significant insights into the foundations of the Western Wall, part of the Temple Mount complex. Conducted between December 2013 and March 2014 by the Israel Antiquities Authority and financed by the City of David Society, the study exposed these ancient structures using advanced archaeological techniques, including wet sieving in the Zurim Valley. Led by J. Uziel with a multidisciplinary team, the research aimed to shed light on the historical and architectural significance of this iconic site. The findings contribute valuable data to our understanding of Jerusalem's layered history, particularly its religious and cultural heritage.
