Summary

Researchers have identified a new species of Parachute Gecko, Ptychozoon kaengkrachanense, endemic to Kaeng Krachan National Park in Thailand. This discovery is significant as it represents the eighth species in its genus and the only one found exclusively in Thailand. The new species is distinguished by unique morphological traits, including three dark dorsal chevrons between limb insertions, homogeneous dorsal scalation without enlarged scales, an original tail lacking a long terminal flap, and specific cutaneous expansions on the head and precloacofemoral region. These characteristics set it apart from all known Ptychozoon species, highlighting the rich biodiversity of Kaeng Krachan Forest Complex.
