Summary

Ecotourism has significantly expanded and diversified the social networks of female residents in Wulingyuan World Natural Heritage Site, with Yuanjiajie Village exhibiting the largest network scale, strongest ties, and most stable structure. This finding emerged from a study combining quantitative data and qualitative analysis of female residents across three villages: Yuanjiajie, Longweiba, and Maershan. Researchers used sampling questionnaires and snowball interviews to assess network centrality, density, and heterogeneity, revealing that ecotourism fosters broader social interactions and more complex relationships. The study highlights the transformative impact of tourism on local social dynamics, particularly for women in heritage areas.
