Summary
Urban conservation efforts in the historic Yenikapı neighborhood of Istanbul face significant challenges due to rapid development, including new constructions and public transport expansion. A study conducted between February and June 2019 identified key pressures affecting the area's integrity and authenticity, such as jarring architectural changes and town planning decisions. The research analyzed onsite conditions along Paşazade, İmrahor Hamamı, and Sepetçi Selim streets to assess the current state of conservation. Proposals for revitalization were suggested to preserve the neighborhood's historic character and cultural heritage value, emphasizing the importance of maintaining urban fabric while addressing modern development pressures.
