Research on the Historic Centre of Zacatecas, Mexico, reveals that its symbolic landscape is shaped by distinct natural and cultural components, each contributing uniquely to the city's identity. Through a comparative analysis of photographs and surveys involving visitors, locals, merchants, and public officials, the study identified key elements that define the center's heritage value. These findings highlight the importance of preserving landscapes not just for their aesthetic or historical significance, but for their deep sociocultural meanings, which vary across different population groups. The research proposes a model for analyzing similar territories, offering insights into how symbolic perceptions can guide conservation efforts in UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
