Summary

A significant correlation was found between the use of social networks and enhanced emotional intelligence, specifically in recognizing and understanding emotions, among men in Quito. The study, which analyzed 306 participants using quantitative methods, revealed that while 41.2% exhibited medium to high levels of hegemonic masculinity, all participants engaged with platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Notably, attention to emotional factors was strong, but excellence in expressing emotions remained low. This suggests social networks may serve as de-territorialized spaces influencing emotional intelligence dynamics in urban contexts.
