Summary

Research on the Old Town of Lijiang reveals that soundscape perception—encompassing preference, comfort, and richness—significantly influences tourists' flow experiences, which in turn affects their behavioral intentions. The study identified four dimensions of soundscape flow experience: time distortion, control, enjoyment, and concentration. While preference and richness positively impact flow, comfort does not show a significant effect. This application of flow theory to soundscape research provides actionable insights for tourism destinations to enhance the quality of auditory experiences, thereby shaping visitor behavior.
