Summary

Recent excavations at Ban Ang, or site 1 of the Megalithic Jar Sites in Xiengkhuang, Laos, have uncovered significant new evidence dating interments to the ninth to thirteenth centuries AD. The study revealed diverse mortuary practices and high rates of infant and child mortality, building on earlier research while providing deeper insights into this poorly understood archaeological landscape. Using systematic excavation methods, researchers confirmed previous findings and expanded our understanding of the cultural and historical significance of these sites.
