Summary
A significant geological insight reveals that the Priamurskaya zone, part of the Zhuravlevka-Amur terrane, experienced over 20 degrees of counterclockwise rotation relative to the Eurasian continent during the Cenomanian-Turonian period (94–89 million years ago), with no latitudinal movements recorded thereafter. This finding was derived from paleomagnetic and rock magnetic studies on gabbrodiorites from the Lower Amur intrusive Complex, located in the Central Sikhote-Alin region of Russia's UNESCO World Heritage Site. The research suggests that left-lateral strike-slip fault systems, such as the Amur and Central Sikhote-Alin faults, could have facilitated mantle material supply during the formation of major porphyry copper deposits like Malmyzh, which is part of the Poni-Mulinsky ore cluster. This study provides critical evidence for understanding tectonic rotations and their implications for mineral resource formation in this region.
