Summary

Generation Z members' positive perceptions of tourism development, community involvement, and place attachment directly influence their intentions to work in the tourism industry within their World Heritage Site hometowns, such as Antequera, Spain. This study, leveraging the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and a structural equation model based on partial least squares (PLS-SEM), found that while positive perceptions significantly impact career intentions, negative perceptions do not. The research highlights the importance of fostering community engagement and place attachment to encourage local youth employment in tourism within UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
