Summary
Newly uncovered archival materials reveal that the Russian imperial authorities under Catherine II systematically suppressed Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra's printing independence through censorship, ultimately leading to its subordination. By 1786, the monastery lost its stauropegia rights, and its printing house fell under the control of the Metropolitan of Kyiv, marking the end of its autonomous book publishing tradition. The study employs a method of intellectual network modeling on Lavra correspondence to demonstrate how Russian centralism eroded Ukrainian cultural autonomy in the second half of the 18th century.
