Summary

Historic districts, rich with tangible and intangible heritage, often face deterioration due to urban expansion and the loss of higher-income residents. This study highlights that targeted urban interventions can significantly upgrade local communities by addressing physical, social, economic, and environmental contexts. It examines successful projects in the Arab region, such as El-Hafsia in Tunis and Al-Darb Al-Ahmar in Cairo, proposing these as reference models for preserving and revitalizing historic districts. The research emphasizes the importance of integrating cultural and economic investments to sustain the unique identity and collective memory of these areas.
