Summary
A sharp decline followed by rapid recovery in tourist arrivals to the UNESCO-listed former Residence of Bukovinian and Dalmatian Metropolitans in Chernivtsi, Ukraine, was primarily driven by the COVID-19 pandemic rather than pre-existing trends. Statistical analysis of visitor data from 2000–2021 revealed three distinct periods: rapid growth (2000–2017) due to UNESCO recognition, stagnation with minor fluctuations (2017–2019), and a pandemic-induced crash and rebound (2019–2021). The study also found that Russia's 2014 aggression in Crimea led to a redistribution of domestic tourist flows, particularly during May holidays. Methodologically, the research combined statistical reporting data with hypothesis testing to assess external factors influencing visitor dynamics.
