Summary
A study on the architectural-ensemble problem in Kazan reveals that ill-conceived infill towers, such as those of Kazan University, disrupted the city's expressive silhouette and filigree character. Despite efforts to maintain a rational functional structure in the central area, key compositional elements like the edge of the upper terrace, the connection between the Kremlin and the Volga River embankment, and the panorama of Kaban Lake were not adequately addressed. The research provides generalized recommendations for future public building construction in Kazan, aiming to preserve its architectural integrity. The study employs a comparative analysis of urban planning principles and their application during the late 1960s–1980s.
