Summary

Researchers have uncovered radiolarian fossils dating back to the late Bajocian and early to middle Bathonian periods (Middle Jurassic) as well as terminal late Tithonian (Late Jurassic) in the Nadan’khada-Bikin terrane of the Sikhote-Alin region, Russia. These findings, derived from lithostratigraphic analysis of paleo-oceanic sediments, provide critical insights into the geological history of this accretionary wedge. By integrating these discoveries with existing data, scientists have identified three distinct stages in the formation of the Bikin segment: terminal Middle Jurassic, late Tithonian, and Berriasian. This process spanned approximately 25 million years, offering a deeper understanding of tectonic evolution during the Mesozoic era.
