Summary
A novel web application successfully geolocates modern addresses of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage city in the Canary Islands, onto its first known 16th-century map. By employing non-parametric natural transform interpolation, researchers achieved high accuracy with a global mean error of just 4.9 meters, reducing to 3.2 meters within the historic city center. This tool offers a unique temporal link between past and present, enhancing heritage promotion and public engagement. The application demonstrated robust performance, handling 50 concurrent users with a latency of 1.4 seconds, making it both precise and user-friendly.
