Summary

A new species of the moss genus Syrrhopodon (Calymperaceae) has been identified from limestone mountains in Gunung Mulu National Park, Sarawak. The discovery was based on a small series of specimens collected by J.M. Camus and previously reported by Ellis (1991). This robust, higher-altitude species adds to the biodiversity of the region's bryophyte flora. The study highlights the importance of thorough taxonomic examination in revealing cryptic diversity within mosses, particularly in ecologically significant areas like Gunung Mulu National Park.
