Summary
Socotra Island, part of the UNESCO-listed Socotra Archipelago, exhibits exceptional wind energy potential, particularly from June to September, with average speeds ranging between 9.85 and 14.88 m/s—a classification of 'Superb' according to international standards. The study, leveraging five years of meteorological data, calculated high annual wind energy density at altitudes of 10, 30, and 50 meters, with an overall average wind speed of 7.95 m/s. This research provides critical insights for developing renewable energy infrastructure in Yemen, addressing the environmental impact of fossil fuels while offering a viable alternative for sustainable power generation.
