Summary
Archaeotourists visiting the Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) in Tanzania exhibit more diverse motivations and profiles compared to non-archaeotourists. They prioritize not only the authenticity of past objects and fascinating stories but also enjoy nature, geological scenery, research opportunities on archaeological features, and companionship. These tourists tend to be older, wealthier, and have more time to explore the site. The study, which analyzed questionnaire data from 252 international tourists using the push and pull motivational model and distance decay theory, highlights the unique characteristics of archaeotourists that distinguish them from other visitors.
