Summary

A significant variation in suspended sediment concentration (SSC) in Quanzhou Bay is driven more by tidal currents than riverine input. Observations from six ship moorings during spring and neap tides revealed that SSC was one order of magnitude higher during spring tides compared to the Jinjiang River's contribution, suggesting tidal forces play a dominant role in sediment dynamics under normal weather conditions.
