Summary

A two-phase construction of the Ecse Mound (Karcag-Kunmadaras, Hortobágy National Park, Hungary) during the Late Copper–Early Bronze Age has been identified through sedimentological and malacological analysis. The study reveals that the kurgan was built at the end of the Copper Age by communities of the Pit Grave Culture, with radiocarbon dating providing preliminary chronological data. Additionally, the research highlights the need for standardized methodology in kurgan studies to ensure consistency and comparability of results across different investigations.
