Summary
A new analysis of radiocarbon dates from the artificial cave beneath Teotihuacan's Sun Pyramid, combined with Bayesian modeling, supports the traditional view that the pyramid was built in the first century A.D. Contrary to a recent reinterpretation suggesting mid-third-century construction, this study reconciles pyramid and cave chronologies with ceramic evidence, maintaining the long-held timeline of the pyramid's founding role in the city's establishment.
