Summary

A significant dynamic relationship between land surface temperature (LST) and various surface parameters—vegetation, urbanization, soil, and water—was identified in Ahmedabad, India. The study, spanning 13 years (2003–2015), analyzed diurnal LST variations using MODIS and Landsat data across summer, monsoon, and winter seasons. Findings revealed that different land surfaces influence LST patterns, contributing to the urban heat island (UHI) effect. This research highlights how urban planning, reduced vegetation, and pollution exacerbate UHI occurrence, offering insights for mitigating heat-related climatic challenges in congested urban areas.
