Summary

Research on the Bolshoy Solovetsky Island's lake-channel system reveals that 19 of its 48 lakes exhibit meromictic characteristics, with six confirmed through hydrological studies. The study assesses the stability of these meromictic lakes and the potential for chemocline destruction in autumn, as well as the likelihood of wind-induced thermocline destruction in dimictic lakes during summer. Findings indicate that in dimictic lakes, convective mixing driven by higher surface layer mineralization dominates water mixing in autumn, rather than wind-induced processes.
