Summary

Research reveals significant differences and consistencies in the knowledge dimensions of trail guides (TGs) within UNESCO-listed Serra da Capivara National Park (SCNP). The study, involving 79 TGs from SCNP and Caparaó National Park (CNP), identified disparities in conceptual knowledge—such as understanding park ecology and history—and procedural knowledge, including trail-walking techniques. However, attitudinal aspects, like environmental stewardship and visitor engagement, remained consistent across both parks. The findings underscore the need for enhanced training programs incorporating physical education, environmental education, exercise physiology, and first aid to improve TGs' effectiveness in delivering educational experiences while minimizing ecological impact.
