Summary

Research reconstructs the development history of karstic water networks in the southern Gömör-Torna Karst, revealing a transition from covered to open karst conditions over time. The study identifies regular patterns in underground river movements and ancient surface outflow directions by analyzing ruined caves, epigenetic valleys, and abandoned water conduits. This reconstruction provides insights into the evolution of landforms and the influence of karstification processes on both surface and subsurface hydrology. The findings are based on morphological analysis and water tracing techniques applied to scarce remnants of past geological phases.
