Summary
A comprehensive database of Marine Isotopic Stage 5e (MIS 5e) sea-level proxies from tropical Pacific islands reveals critical insights into past sea-level fluctuations during the last interglacial period. The study, which reviewed approximately 300 studies and compiled data from 163 age points and 94 relative sea-level (RSL) data points across 38 studies, highlights the diversity of sea-level indicators such as emerged coral reef terraces and drill cores. These findings underscore the importance of refining RSL reconstructions with more precise chronological data, accurate elevation measurements, and better understanding of palaeo-water-depth significance in coralgal assemblages. The open-access database, available at https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.3991672, serves as a valuable resource for future research on sea-level changes in the tropical Pacific.
