Summary
A taxonomic revision of the tachinid fly genus Metaplagia reveals five new species from Costa Rica's Area de Conservación Guanacaste (ACG). These discoveries, derived from an ongoing inventory of Sphingidae caterpillars, integrate morphological, molecular, and life history data to redefine the genus and provide a revised identification key for Metaplagia species. Additionally, the study proposes a new combination for Plagiomima latifrons, expanding our understanding of this fly group's biodiversity in ACG.
