Summary

Research at the Sangiran Early Man Site reveals that sediments from the region's mud volcano are enriched with specific elements, particularly silicon (Si) and iron (Fe), which are key components of volcanic ash. Using vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) analysis and X-ray fluorescence (XRF), scientists confirmed that Fe, primarily in hematite form, dominates magnetic content, while Si and Fe concentrations were highest in samples T1 and T7. Sample T4 showed notable levels of calcium (Ca). These findings provide critical insights into the geological history, hydrology, and lithology of the Sangiran basin, contributing to understanding groundwater flow patterns and saltwater trap mapping.
