Summary

A review of sixteen Pskov churches, built between the 13th and 16th centuries, reveals a unique architectural heritage featuring hundreds of acoustic vessels. These vessels, integral to the church design, were used for their acoustic properties, enhancing sound within worship spaces. The Peter and Paul Church stands out with an impressive 326 vessels despite its small volume of 1300 m³. Ten of the churches reviewed contain over 100 vessels, while the smallest number recorded is 42. This study highlights the significance of Pskov's architectural tradition in preserving acoustic devices, offering insights into their distribution and placement within these historic structures.
