Summary

Researchers have identified the first troglobiotic (cave-adapted) scorpion species from the family Pseudochactidae, representing a significant discovery for both taxonomists and conservationists. This new genus and species were uncovered in Tien Son cave within Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, Vietnam, marking the third known record of Pseudochactidae globally and the first from Vietnam. The study, based on four specimens, highlights the unique adaptations of this scorpion to subterranean environments, contributing valuable insights into the biodiversity of UNESCO-listed caves.
