Summary
Sarazm, a prehistoric settlement in Central Asia, stands out as one of the region's most significant archaeological sites due to its rich history spanning from 3500 BC to 2000 BC. Discovered in 1976, Sarazm has been the focus of extensive research by international archaeologists, revealing a highly developed society engaged in agriculture, metallurgy, and craftsmanship. The site's strategic location along the Zeravshan River facilitated robust trade connections with neighboring regions like Iran, Baluchistan, Afghanistan, and India. Notable findings include well-preserved palatial, religious, and residential structures, tools, and jewelry, highlighting Sarazm's advanced economic and cultural achievements during the Late Paleolithic and Early Bronze Age periods. Recognized for its global importance, Sarazm was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010.
