Summary

A strong correlation between dengue incidence and weather variables was identified in Kandy, Sri Lanka (2003–2012), with rainfall, temperature, humidity, and sunshine showing positive associations—particularly with a 5- to 7-week lag. Negative correlations were observed with wind run. The study used wavelet time series analysis and cross-correlation coefficients to quantify these relationships, revealing that dengue transmission is influenced by multiple environmental factors. These findings highlight the need for adaptive public health strategies in the context of climate change.
