Summary
Tourists' digital interactions on platforms like TripAdvisor create transnational moral spaces, reinforcing shared values and global remembrance practices. Unlike traditional views of dark tourism as voyeuristic or amoral, this study reveals how online discussions contribute to meaningful moral reflection, extending beyond physical visits to memorial sites such as Cambodia's Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and Rwanda's Kigali Genocide Memorial. Analyzing 120,000 reviews, the research demonstrates that digital engagement perpetuates a transnationalization of memory, shaping how atrocities are commemorated worldwide. This finding highlights the dual role of the internet in both reflecting and amplifying global remembrance trends.
